Current research focuses on the static and dynamic properties of interfaces, concentrating in particular on the dynamics of steps on crystal surfaces and on the properties of nonuniform and confined liquids. Major research contributions include work on the perturbation theory of liquids, the capillary wave model of the liquid-vapor interface, the theory of the suface roughening transition of solid-fluid interfaces, and dynamical theories of morphological instabilities on solid surfaces.
