John F. Cogan Jr. was Chairman Emeritus of Pioneer Investment Management USA Inc. (Boston), and Trustee Emeritus of all the Pioneer Mutual Funds in the US, as well as President and Director of Pioneer Alternative Investment Management (Bermuda) Ltd.; and its related funds. From October 2000 to April 2010, he was Deputy Chairman and Director of Pioneer Global Asset Management S.p.A., headquartered in Milan, Italy. He was a retired Partner at Wilmer, Cutler, Pickering, Hale and Dorr, LLP., having previously served as a managing Partner and Chairman of Hale and Dorr, a predecessor firm. He was a former Chairman of the Investment Company Institute and served for many years as a member of the Board of Governors and the Executive Committee. He was also a Director of ICI Mutual Insurance Company. He served as a member of the Russian Prime Minister’s Foreign Advisory Council from 1994 to 1999. He was a graduate of Harvard College and Harvard Law School and an Emeritus Trustee of the Boston Medical Center, Life Trustee of the Boston Symphony Orchestra, and Chairman Emeritus of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston. In 2007, he was awarded the Harvard Medal. He was elected a Fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences in 2005. He served as a member of the Academy’s Trust, as well as its Finance and Development and Budget Committees.
