Dartmouth College, Hanover, New Hampshire. Associate Dean of Faculty for the Social Sciences; John Wentworth Professor in the Social Sciences; Professor of Government. Author or co-author of more than fifty academic articles and book chapters and six books, most recently Campus Diversity: The Hidden Consensus (2020). Co-founder/director of BrightLineWatch, which monitors threats to American democracy. Research focuses on the quality and performance of democratic institutions in the United States and on Latin American politics. Current research is on threats to U.S. democracy, on attitudes toward diversity, and on misperceptions and conspiracy theory beliefs and the effectiveness of interventions to combat them. Has consulted on electoral system reform in Afghanistan, Jordan, Tunisia, Yemen, South Sudan, Israel, Mexico, Chile, El Salvador, Philippines, Taiwan, and Nepal.
