John Shepard Reed

John S. Reed is treasurer of the Academy and chair of the Investment Committee. He is former interim chairman and chief executive officer of the New York Stock Exchange and retired in 2000 as chairman and co-chief executive officer of Citigroup, Inc. In his thirty-five-year business career, he was also chair and chief executive officer of Citigroup's subsidiaries, Citicorp and Citibank. Mr. Reed serves on the boards of the Center for Advanced Study in the Behavioral Sciences in Stanford, the RAND Corporation, Altria Group, Inc., and the Manpower Demonstration Research Corporation. He is also a member of the American Philosophical Society, and a life member of the MIT Corporation.
