Judith Kimble

University of Wisconsin-Madison
Developmental biologist; Educator
Area
Biological Sciences
Specialty
Cellular and Developmental Biology
Elected
1995
Vilas Professor of Biochemistry and Genetics, University of Wisconsin-Madison and HHMI. Kimble studies the molecular regulation of animal development and has made major contributions to understanding the stem cell niche, Notch signaling, Wnt signaling and post-transcriptional networks,  and their coordination to govern stem cell maintenance and cell fate specification. Using Caenorhabditis elegans as a model, her work has uncovered broadly conserved  regulatory factors, relationships and mechanisms.
