His research is now wholly entomological, primarily concerned with studies of the life histories of little known insects; the relation of nesting substrates and architecture of wild bees' nests and how they affect the success of inquilines and parasites, and the bees' realized sex ratio at emergence from the nest compared with that of the haploid (male) and diploid (female) eggs laid within the nest.
