Modernist Chinese painter, widely regarded as the Father of Modern Ink Painting. With works in many public collections such as the British Museum and the Art Institute of Chicago, he is the only artist bestowed Taiwan's National Award for Arts and China's Lifetime Arts Achievement Award. He continues the development of a new synthesis of Western modernism and Chinese art. Lecturing worldwide and having taught in the US and China, he is also engaged in a dialog with artists and scientists from East and West creating an opportunity for furthering developments of cultural understanding.
