She led Starburst, which showed how diverse information could be integrated into a relational database and was productized in IBM's DB2 LUW. She was the overall architect for Garlic, a novel data federation system that provides integrated access to heterogeneous data sources. Garlic was productized as IBM's InfoSphere Federation Server. She co-invented Clio, the first tool for semi-automatic schema mapping, a key step in data integration and transformation; Clio technology is used in multiple vendors’ products. Dr. Haas is an IBM Fellow, an ACM Fellow, and a member of the National Academy of Engineering.
