Mallinckrodt Professor of Physics and of Applied Physics. Experiments provide ingenious tools, with potential applications to the storage, transmission, and manipulation of light. Slowed a laser beam to bicycle speed, in a Bose-Einstein condensate. Refined experiments allowed her to stop the beam completely and to reconstitute (teleport) it to a new location.
