Professor of Mathematics. Contributed to the interface between mathematics and physics. Devised the rigorous framework for white noise analysis that is used throughout probability and its applications. Created and explored logarithmic Sobolev inequalities and their relations to hypercontractivity, tools now applied far from their origins in constructive field theories.
