Lloyd Cotsen

President. In the spirit of the founders of the American Academy, Cotsen gives a large portion of his personal wealth to promote the public good in the arts, humanities, and social sciences. More than two dozen institutions have benefited from his generosity and highly innovative philanthropy; his impact has been tremendous. Founded Cotsen Family Foundation in 2001; established The Art of Teaching Program (Teacher Mentor Program in K-8 public schools). The foundation also focuses on the collection of children's books worldwide, the collection of Japanese bamboo baskets, and the collection and exhibition of historical textiles. Currently focusing on the publication of the interrelationship between textile and Chinese early bronze mirror books, and children's publishing in the 17th and 19th centuries.
