Loa Traxler is the Director of Museum Studies and Associate Professor of Anthropology at the University of New Mexico. She received her doctorate in Anthropology at the University of Pennsylvania, and her experience includes over thirty years of archaeological field investigation, survey, curation, and collections management at sites throughout the world. As a researcher, she has explored a wide range of cultures and traditions – from 17th century pueblo communities in the Upper Río Grande of New Mexico, to the ancient city of Petra in southern Jordan, and the Classic Maya kingdom of Copan in western Honduras.
