Professor Luis A. Caffarelli is a Professor of Mathematics at the University of Texas at Austin. Before his position at the University of Texas at Austin, he held positions at NYU, Princeton, University of Chicago, and University of Minnesota. Caffarelli's research interests include mathematics, free boundary problems, and partial differential equations. Professor Caffarelli has received the Stampacchia Prize, Bôcher Memorial Prize, Pius XI Gold Medal, The Rolf Schock Prize, Leroy P. Steele Prize, The Wolf Prize in Mathematics, Solomon Lefschetz Medal, and Career Research Excellence Award. His publications include, "Fully Nonlinear Elliptic Equations," "Hyperbolic Equations and Frequency Interactions," "The Obstacle Problem," and "Nonlinear Partial Differential Equations." He is a member of the National Academy of Sciences, Academy of Medicine, Engineering and Science of Texas, American Mathematical Society, Association for Women in Mathematics, and Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics.
