President and Artistic Director. Mezzo-soprano known for her performances in the operas of Rossini and Handel and her orchestral and concert recitals for over five decades. Also performed contemporary music by such composers as Igor Stravinsky, Alban Berg, and William Bolcom, as well as earlier contemporary composers.Is a recipient of the Kennedy Center Honors, the National Medal of the Arts, numerous honorary doctorates, and soon to receive The National Endowment of the Arts opera award. In 1993, established the Marilyn Horne Foundation (MHF), devoted to the vocal recital and young artists. Thus far the MHF has co-presented 292 recitals and 716 educational programs in 28 states, reaching over 63,000 students and over 64,000 adults.
