                    Chief Executive Officer. Since 1997, serves as chief executive of Pearson, an international media and education company made up of Pearson Education, Penguin, and the Financial Times Group. Led Pearson to a major position in digital media and digital educational materials. Previously served as Chief Executive Officer of The Economist Group. As a journalist, co-founded and published a Pulitzer Prize-winning newspaper, The Georgia Gazette. Knighted in 2002 and recipient of the Royal Society of Arts' Benjamin Franklin Medal, she is a non-executive director of Nokia and a trustee of the Victoria and Albert Museum, the MacArthur Foundation, the Carter Center, and Oxfam.
