Research focuses on photochemistry in non-homogeneous media. She has pioneered the field of organic photo-electrochemistry and has made major contributions to the current fundamental understanding of photoinduced electron transfer in anisotropic arrays. Her work on interfacial electron transfer on irradiated semiconductor surfaces is also important for building nanoscaled structures in self-assembled monolayers.
