Poet, Translator. Professor of Poetry at University of Florida. German-born, writing in English. Published five books of poems: Nights in the Iron Hotel, Acrimony, K.S. in Lakeland, Corona, Corona, and Approximately Nowhere. Translated more than thirty books from the German, mainly novels, including works by Ernst Junger, Franz Kafka, Wolfgang Koeppen, Joseph Roth, and Wim Wenders. Recipient of a Cholmondeley Award, the Geoffrey Faber Memorial Prize, the IMPAC Dublin Literary Award, and the Helen and Kurt Wolff Translator's Prize.
