Current research centers on the mechanisms that control gene expression in living organisms. He has cloned and analyzed the function of a number of transcription facotrs important for development, cell cycle progression and malignant transformation. Past studies concerned DNA-tumor viruses including the sequencing of papillomaviruses associated with malignant transformation in humans.
