Professor of Chemistry. Pioneer in the organometallic synthesis and physical characterization of semiconductor materials in the nanometer size range (quantum dots). Elucidated the structure of electronic states in these quantum dots and established single quantum dot spectroscopy. Demonstrated applications of these quantum dots ranging from stimulated emission and lasing, electroluminescence, and biomedical imaging.
