Dr. Davidson made key discoveries on the role of estrogen signaling in breast cancer, particularly of epigenetic changes in hormone response. She guided national trials that established the role of chemoendocrine therapy for premenopausal, hormone-responsive breast cancer and identified optimal adjuvant chemotherapy regimens. As president of American Association for Cancer Research and of American Society of Clinical Oncology, she focused national attention on the cost of cancer care and the role of prevention and implementation science to reduce its burden. She has served as a leader of cancer research and care at three National Cancer Institute-designated Comprehensive Cancer Centers.
