Professor Nancy F. Cott is the Jonathan Trumbull Research Professor of American History at Harvard University and was the former Carl and Lily Pforzheimer Foundation Director at the Schlesinger Library, Radcliffe Institute for Advanced Study. Other former positions include Sterling Professor of History and American Studies at Yale University. She is President of the Organization of American Historians in 2016-17. She is the author and editor of many books and articles in United States history that range widely, encompassing questions of gender, family, politics, citizenship, feminism, and law. Books include The Bonds of Womanhood (1977) and Public Vows (2000).
