Have exhibited nationally and internationally since 1951 and the primary interests has been in interpreting the human form. Taught at Stanford University since 1963, and has held the endowed Chair of Ann O'Day Maples Professor in the Arts. Has been a leader in the ressurection of the art medium, Monotype, and has worked in that medium as well as painting for many years. He is not concerned with the cutting edge of modern art but rather believes in a human resonance in the continuity of universal imagery.
