Crutzen’s research was concerned with the chemistry of the atmosphere on all scales, with an emphasis on the role of ozone in the troposphere and stratosphere and how it is influenced by human activities. Likewise, the interactions of ozone and other gases with climate and the role of atmospheric chemistry in biogeochemical cycling was a major aspect of his research activities.
