In 2016 she became the fourteenth president of Wellesley College. A leader in policy and research in health care disparities and women’s health, she is a cardiologist, and was professor of medicine and public health at the Harvard Schools of Medicine and Public Health.  She created and directed the Connors Center for Women's Health and Gender Biology at Brigham and Women’s Hospital. Its focus includes research, clinical care and education, and has received national and international recognition. Her many honors include election to the National Academy of Medicine and receiving several honorary degrees. She has served on many Boards including Planned Parenthood, American Heart Association and the Center for Reproductive Rights.
