                    Research centers on 18th and ealy 19th-century American History, especially the American Revolution and its impact.  She has written on the development of colonial resistance to Britain, the Declaration of Independence, and various other topics such as eighteenth-century popular uprisings and the revolutionary origins of the American corporation.  At present she is working with three other historians on a general history of the United States from its remote origins to the present that will give serious attention to the history of science and technology.  Next she planst to write a book on the ratification of the federal Constitution.
