Peter Duus is the William H. Bonsall Professor of History Emeritus and Senior Fellow (by courtesy) at Stanford University's Hoover Institution. He is also former Director of the Center for East Asian Studies at Stanford University. Duus has made significant contributions to the understanding of the development of Japanese imperialism and the emergence of the modern Japanese nation. His research interests are Japanese imperialism and colonialism, Development of Tokyo, and Modern political cartoon. Duus served as president of the Association for Asian Studies in 2000-2001.
