Qiang Du is the Fu Foundation Professor of Applied Mathematics at Columbia University, where he leads the Computational Mathematics and Multiscale Modeling research group. His research focuses on mathematical modeling, analysis, and scientific computing, with applications across the physical, biological, and data sciences. He received his Ph.D. in Mathematics from Carnegie Mellon University and has held academic positions in the U.S. and Hong Kong, including the Verne M. Willaman Professorship of Mathematics at Pennsylvania State University, before joining Columbia in 2014.

His honors include the Feng Kang Prize, SIAM Outstanding Paper Prize, ACM Gordon Bell Prize finalist, SIAM Review SIGEST Award, USACM Hughes Medal, and the Frontiers of Science Award. He was an invited speaker at the 2018 International Congress of Mathematicians and is a Fellow of AMS, AAAS, and SIAM. He currently serves as the Editor-in-Chief of SIAM Journal on Applied Mathematics and as a founding Co-Editor-in-Chief of Communications of the American Mathematical Society.
