Artist. Postminimalist working with painting, sculpture, drawing, printmaking, installation, furniture, and books. Work is described as less minimalist than miniaturist and is known for small and intimate scale. Work with shape, color, informal materials, shadows, collage, and substrates redefined the aesthetic dimension in the visual arts. First major solo show received major attention (1975 Whitney Museum), and many solo shows followed, including a 2005 traveling retrospective at the San Fransisco Museum of Modern Art. Was featured in three Venice Biennales and Documentas. Tuttle is represented by the Pace Gallery in New York, Galerie Schmela in Düsseldorf, and by the Annemarie Verna Galerie in Zurich.
