Rita Moreno

Actor, singer, and dancer Rita Moreno has had a career spanning more than 80 years. She has appeared in numerous film, television, and theater projects. 

Moreno is one of the few artists to win all four major American entertainment awards—an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar (Academy Award), and Tony—and become an EGOT. These are the performances that secured her EGOT:

E - Emmy Awards for Outstanding Guest Actress for The Muppet Show (1977) and The Rockford Files (1978)

G - Grammy Award for Best Recording for Children for The Electric Company album (1973)

O - Oscar for Best Supporting Actress for West Side Story (1962)

T - Tony Award for Best Featured Actress in a Play for The Ritz (1975)

Moreno, who is Puerto Rican, has been a trailblazer for Hispanic actors in Hollywood. She was the first Hispanic woman to win an Academy Award.

In 2004, she was awarded the Presidential Medial of Freedom by George W. Bush and received a National Medal of Arts from President Barack Obama in 2015.
