After retiring in 1992, he worked on the kinetic theory of polymeric liquids with Professor Emeritus C.F. Curtiss of the Chemistry Department. The past three years he has worked with Professor Emeritus W.E. Stewart and E.N. Lightfoot of the Chemical Engineering Department on the second edition of the textbook Transport Phenomena (1st edition, 1960; 2nd edition, August 2001)
