
Robert Edwards Lane
Professor Robert E. Lane was the Eugene Meyer Professor of Political Science Emeritus at Yale University. He spent 50 years teaching at Yale, heading the department twice in his career. He is considered a pioneer of Political Psychology. He was a fellow of the British Academy and the American Association for the Advancement of Science. His most notable publications include After the End of History: The Curious Fate of American Materialism, The Loss of Happiness in Market Democracies, The Market Experience, Political Thinking and Consciousness, Public Opinion, and The Liberties of Wit: Humanism, Criticism, and the Civic Mind. In addition, he served as past President of the National Senior Conservation Corps, International Society of Political Psychology, Policy Studies Organization, and American Political Science Association. He was the recipient of numerous honors such as the Connecticut Governor’s Climate Change Leadership Award, Philip Converse Book Award, and Robert E. Lane Award.
