Since 2005, served as President and Chief Executive Officer of the Walt Disney Company, having previously served as President and Chief Operating Officer and as President of Walt Disney International and Chairman of the ABC Group. During his tenure, Disney has become the largest media company in the world. Notably, he oversaw the acquisition of Pixar, following a period of strained relations with the animation studio, and led the company to acquire Marvel Entertainment, further broadening the Disney company's character franchises. From 1974 to 1998, Iger held a series of increasingly responsible positions at ABC, Inc. and its predecessor Capital Cities/ABC, Inc., culminating in service as President of the ABC Network Television Group from 1993 to 1994 and President and Chief Operating Officer of ABC, Inc. from 1994 to 1999. In June 2010, President Barack Obama appointed him to the President's Export Council, which advises the president on how to promote U.S. exports, jobs, and growth. He is a member of numerous boards, including the Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts in New York City.~~
