Sandra M. Gilbert

Research and criticism focus on nineteenth- and twentieth-century literature in English, feminist theory, and women's studies. She has written on the female literary tradition as well as on British and American modernism, with special emphasis on poetry, and she has edited or co-edited several literary anthologies. In addition, she has published six volumes of her own verse, a book-length memoir, and a number of personal essays. At present, she is working on projects dealing with the interconnections of poetry, mourning, and modernity.
