Steve Granick is an expert in the chemistry and physics of soft materials. He works across disciplines to explore imaging, assembly, behavior and interactions of molecules, colloidal particles, and their assemblies. His research interests range from the study of active matter to the chemistry and physics of visualized macromolecules, vesicles, and supracolloidal materials. He is currently the Robert K. Barrett Chair Professor at the University of Massachusetts. Previously he was Director of a blue-sky research center in South Korea, the IBS Center for Soft and Living Matter, while also Emeritus Professor at the University of Illinois. His work has broad applications in medicine, biology, chemistry and manufacturing.
