Professor of Physics and Applied Physics. Condensed matter theorist with interests in many-body problems, quantum phase transitions, low-dimensional systems, atomic physics, and quantum computation. Known for work on the quantum Hall effect, the superconductor-insulator transition, and co-inventor of 'circuit QED,' the quantum optics of electrical circuits and a leading architecture for the construction of quantum computers.
