Susan Stamberg was a Special Correspondent at NPR and Guest Host at the Weekend Edition Saturday. She was the first woman to anchor a nightly national network news program. After 14 years with "All Things Considered," she started her work with "Weekend Edition Sunday." Later, she was a special correspondent, reporting on various topics, with primary emphasis on the arts. Stamberg is recognized for launching the conversational and journalistic style that defines National Public Radio.

Stamberg was inducted into the Broadcasting Hall of Fame and Radio Hall of Fame. Her other recognitions include the Armstrong and duPont Awards, the Edward R. Murrow Award from the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, The Ohio State University's Golden Anniversary Director's Award, and the Distinguished Broadcaster Award from the American Women in Radio and Television.

Stamberg has appeared as a narrator in performance with the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra and the National Symphony Orchestra and her voice appeared on Broadway in the Wendy Wasserstein play, "An American Daughter."
