                    Jazz Saxophonist and Composer. One of the most prominent figures in jazz during the past fifty years. A legendary jazz tenor saxophonist and an exemplary musician, known for his melodic invention and unaccompanied solo playing. His widely acclaimed albums include Saxophone Colossus (1956), Freedom Suite (1958), and Without a Song (The 9/11 Concert), recipient of a 2004 Grammy Award. Recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award from the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences and the 2010 Edward MacDowell Medal.
