His recent studies have focused on the role played by the Interleukin 2/interleukin 2 receptors (IL-2R) system in the growth and differentiation of normal and neoplastic lymphocytes. He also co-discovered IL-15. He has introduced various forms of IL-2R and IL-15R directed therapy for leukemia, and autoimmune diseases and to prevent allograft rejection that use monoclonal antibodies developed in his laboratory.
