Research is on turbulence, heat & mass transfer, multiphase flow. He has invented electrochemical techniques which allow measurements of flows close to the wall and he has used these techniques and direct numerical simulations to find out how turbulence can be changed. He has been a leader in using basic studies of small scale, interfacial interactions to provide an understanding of the behavior of industrially important multiphase flows. Recent works with Langrangian methods and DNS are challenging classical analyses of turbulent heat and mass transfer.
