Thomas Yizhao Hour is the Charles Lee Powell Professor of Applied and Computational Mathematics in the Department of Computing and Mathematical Sciences at the California Institute of Technology. He is known for his research on multi scale analysis and has contributed to theoretical and computational fluid dynamics, including the convergence of the point vortex method, spectral methods for fluid interface problems, multiscale fluid flow problems, singularity formation of three dimensional incompressible Euler equations, and the dynamic stability of three dimensional incompressible Euler and Navier-Stokes equations. His research interests also include homogenization and adaptive data analysis. He was the cofounder of SIAM Journal on Multiscale Modeling and Simulation. He is also the cofounder of Advances in Adaptive Data Analysis .
