Tom Brokaw has worked for NBC News since 1966, where he was a Reporter, White House Correspondent, Anchor, and now serves as a Special Correspondent. He has conducted exclusive, historic interviews with major world leaders such as Mikhail Gorbachev, the Dalai Lama, and Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin. Brokaw is considered part of the "Big Three" of U.S. news anchors in the 1980s and 90s, joining Peter Jennings and Dan Rather. In addition, Brokaw is an author of several works that recount World War II America. Some famous awards include, Alfred I. duPont-Columbia University Awards, Emmy Awards, Peabody Awards, Induction into the Television Hall of Fame, and the Presidential Medal of Freedom. Brokaw serves on the board of directors of the Council on Foreign Relations, the Committee to Protect Journalists, the International Rescue Committee, and the Mayo Clinic, while also serving as a trustee of the University of South Dakota, the Norton Simon Museum, the American Museum of Natural History, and the International Rescue Committee.
