Valerie A. Ramey

Ramey is a recognized leader in the profession and macroeconomics, serving as Co-Editor of the American Economic Review, member of the Executive Committee and recently elected Vice President of the American Economic Association. Her early work on inventories introduced new dynamic models, expanded in later work on capital reallocation. Her work is influential in taking on macro topics with consideration of micro dynamics, such as capital heterogeneity and reallocation in specific industries. Her research into equilibrium effects of oil shocks and fiscal policy has resulted in a better understanding of the effect of shocks and multipliers associated with government spending.
