Werner L. Gundersheimer is Director Emeritus of the Folger Shakespeare Library. He is a distinguished scholar and administrator throughout all of his career and has authored publications in the field of Renaissance studies. He has served as professor of history (and department chair) at the University of Pennsylvania before assuming the directorship of the Folger Shakespeare Library, a post he held for eighteen years.
