William Conyers Herring

Research has been in a number of areas of theoretical solid-state physics, especially electronic structures, magnetism, thermodynamics and kinetics of surfaces, diffusion, and transport in semiconductors. He has also worked with scientific and government organizations in efforts to improve transfer of information among scientists and to foster international contacts. His recent research has been concerned mostly with the interpretation of many observed propoerties of solid solutions of hydrogen in crystalline semiconductors.
