Xuedong Huang, Zoom's Chief Technology Officer, is a renowned technology leader who previously held key positions at Microsoft, including Technical Fellow and Azure AI Chief Technology Officer. His contributions have been instrumental in bringing speech recognition to the mass market, and he has led Microsoft to achieve groundbreaking milestones in speech recognition, machine translation, natural language understanding, and computer vision. Huang has played a pivotal role in transforming Azure AI into a leading industrial AI platform, serving billions of customers worldwide and supporting hundreds of languages. Huang's accomplishments extend beyond his product leadership. He is an inventor with over 170 US patents and has authored over 100 papers and 2 books. He is an elected member of the National Academy of Engineering and the American Academy of Arts and Sciences. He received the IEEE Bose Industrial Leader Award in 2023. Huang earned his Ph.D. from the University of Edinburgh in 1989, his MS from Tsinghua University in 1984, and his BS from Hunan University in 1982. Following his postdoctoral work at Carnegie Mellon University, he joined the faculty of the School of Computer Sciences at Carnegie Mellon University in 1990 till he moved to Microsoft in 1993.
