Scholarship in the Humanities
This series of studies analyzes the evolution of humanities disciplines and institutions, examines the conditions and intellectual climate in which they operate, and assesses the role and value of the humanities in society.
This project supports scholarship and research into the history, evolution, state, and meaning of the humanities. The project explores such questions as: What role do the humanities play in American life? How have the humanities evolved over time? How should the humanities be defined in the twenty-first century? What can the humanities teach us about life, meaning, and the human condition?
The Academy has produced several publications on these questions.
