Ways to Give
You can make a gift to the American Academy in a variety of ways. Your gift can be made to the Annual Fund in the form of an unrestricted gift or it can be dedicated to a particular program area or project. Contributions may also be designated for the endowment, to honor an individual or commemorate a special occasion.
To make a donation by phone, all you need is your credit card and our number: 617-576-5066
We accept Visa, MasterCard and American Express.
To send a check, please make your check payable to “The American Academy of Arts and Sciences,” and mail to:
American Academy of Arts & Sciences
136 Irving Street
Cambridge, MA 02138-1996
Please note, the office is open to receive mail during the Covid-19 pandemic.
The history of planned giving at the Academy dates to its founding. Bequests from members and other individuals helped create the Academy’s endowment and continue to provide a foundation of support for projects, publications, and programs that address major challenges.

Many employers sponsor matching gift programs and will match any charitable contributions made by their employees.
If your employer or your spouse’s employer has a matching gift program, your gift may be doubled or even tripled. Your employer’s human resources department can supply you with specific instructions about its process for matching gifts.
You may wire gifts of cash or securities through a two-step process.
First, provide your broker with detailed instructions of the gift that you would like to make, including the name of the stock and the number of shares to be transferred from your account to the Academy.
Then, please contact the Development Office at 617-576-5066 or email@example.com to let us know the name of the stock and the number of shares that will be transferred so you can receive proper gift acknowledgment on a timely basis.
The Academy establishes strategic relationships with funders by matching key initiatives with the philanthropic priorities of individual foundations and corporations.
