2017 Induction Weekend: Induction Ceremony

On October 7, 2017, the American Academy inducted its 237th class of Members at a ceremony held in Cambridge, Massachusetts. The ceremony featured historical readings by Kathryn Fuller (Smithsonian Institution’s National Museum of Natural History) and John Lithgow (Actor and Author) as well as a performance by the Boston Children’s Chorus.

The ceremony also included presentations by five new Members: Ursula Burns (Xerox Corporation), James P. Allison (University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center), Heather K. Gerken (Yale Law School), Jane Mayer (The New Yorker), and Gerald Chan (Morningside).
