The national debate over immigration policy remains highly contentious. Overlooked in this debate, though, are place-based immigration programs, which have the potential to revitalize communities in need of population growth and economic renewal.

In a new report, an Academy working group proposes the creation of Community Partnership Visas, a program to allow eligible communities to host new immigrants. This program would leverage America’s long tradition as a destination for newcomers to improve the economies of communities across the country. The working group is composed of immigration policy experts from across the political spectrum and is led by Academy member Cristina Rodríguez. The recommendation emerged from the work of the Commission on Reimagining Our Economy.

This recommendation, and others, will be discussed at this event hosted by the American Enterprise Institute (AEI) in person in Washington, D.C. and also online. Members of the Academy and members of the public are invited to register.
