Academy Members Lunch in Phoenix
The American Academy’s Our Common Purpose initiative will visit Phoenix, Arizona on Friday, February 3rd for a day-long set of programming. Conversations will highlight the inspiring work community leaders in Arizona are undertaking to create a more resilient civic culture and renew a commitment to constitutional democracy.
Members are invited to a luncheon discussion with Academy members Eric Liu and Stephen Heintz, cochairs of the Academy’s Commission on the Practice of Democratic Citizenship. The cochairs will share the latest updates on their work to advance the Commission’s recommendations for reinventing American democracy, and discuss strategies to implement these reforms in Arizona. This lunch will also offer an opportunity to connect with fellow Academy members and discuss potential future Academy activities in the region. Following the luncheon, members are invited to join the cochairs at the Flinn Foundation for a panel discussion, co-hosted by the Arizona Civic Life Partnership and the Vitalyst Health Foundation, on Our Common Purpose and Opportunities for Civic Renewal in Arizona, followed by a reception with community leaders.
